Driftwood Art Decor

Natural Driftwood

I use all natural driftwood and weathered wood for my driftwood art pieces. Each piece is meticulously chosen and incorporated into each unique piece of art. Many pieces takes days, even weeks to complete and I follow no other art form other than my own. My pieces are original as, the creator. I have an eye for detail and an instinct for perfection when it comes to my creations.

Driftwood Selection

The driftwood and weathered wood I use has not been purchased from other sources. I may consider it at some point, but not at this time. My pieces have been hand picked by me to create with. It is my eye that has chosen the piece and my eye that creates what I see. The wood has been collected from the shores of Michigan Lakes and Waterways. The wood is carefully dried and resorted, often major cracking occurs if it dries too quickly. My pieces are not just thrown together and then referred to, as Art. There is an art form to creating driftwood pieces of art or they simply are not considered to be art in my eyes. They are a craft project that somebody has made.

Priceless To Me

folded cedar driftwoodI have several pieces ready to sell, but will start things out with just one, an 8 x 10 picture frame. I’m still trying to figure out my pricing. After all, it’s value is only worth what one is willing to pay. I’ve looked all over for items to compare them to and have found very little to choose from. As an artist, it’s going to be very difficult for me to part with these pieces. I’ve saved and collected this driftwood to to create with for over 10 years, to embellish the walls and shelves of my own home. Putting a price on something I am emotionally involved with, is very difficult.
I have a piece of folded cedar that ordains my fireplace mantle, that I found 9 years ago and if I had the cash to do so, I’d easily pay over $200 for it, simply because it is so unique, smooth, and baffling as to how it developed into such a beautiful piece. It’s as if someone simply folded it in half. The piece is 11″ x 11″ and will free stand. A piece of natures artwork, natural, not manipulated by man.  The back of the piece is not so pretty, but could be worked with.. I’ve left it natural, because I still do not know if I wish to part with it. This piece could be used for many things and I did not want to commit it to something quite yet. If you have beach house decor or yacht, these pieces would be a perfect addition.

If you can appreciate wood grains, texture, color and appearance, you will love the pieces I will be selling on eBay. I originally wanted to open an online store, but due to security issues related to using WordPress, I have decided to go with a more trusted and safer environment to sell my items. The small fees I pay will be well worth the security they provide.

I didn’t want to auction them off on eBay or sell on some other platform offered. I believe these pieces need to stand out above the rest, as original as each of them are, on their own platform within Notions and Needs. These pieces are created by an emotional artist and it shows in every piece. I have vested all I am, at the time, into my creations. The words “good enough” are difficult to slip past my lips. To simply throw them up on an auction site was not an option for these pieces, however, I have decided to do it anyway, just because of all the hackers that target WordPress websites.

Warning

When purchasing driftwood or other “natural” forms of art pieces, be sure to investigate before you buy. As I was doing my research, I have noticed that many pieces I’ve seen, use one generic photo in their sales ad. It is obvious you will not be getting the piece you are seeing or 10-20 people are selling the exact same piece of work. Do some checking for similar pieces to be sure you are buying exactly what you are seeing. I have seen a nice little picture frame sell over 10 times that has no mention of the photo they used being anything less than what you are about to purchase. Stock photos are often used when sellers are using a drop shipper. Use caution and make sure you see what you get.
