Parenting-Don’t Eat That

Parenting Tip

-Do not eat the food your child leaves on their plate. So many parents do not realize that you are not wasting the food, if you throw it away instead of eating it yourself. If you have already had your meal, eating their food to avoid throwing it out, is only going to store it on your hips. I believe tossing it out with the trash is better than wearing it. Parenting does not come with instructions. We often seek advise, live and learn or do as our parents did. I hope this tip helps you make a good parenting choice.
Do not make your servings larger than you should, so you can feed your child from your plate. The child should always have their own plate if at all possible. You will most likely clean your plate, thus eating what the child would not. This would be the same as eating what the child left behind, if they had had their own plate.
Moms and dads are both guilty of making this parenting mistake and many times I had to actually take something out of my mouth that I had popped in there that I had picked off my child’s plate. Our instinct is not to waste good food.
Once any bacteria from our mouths touches food, it begins to break down, so we can’t store these left overs. They must be consumed or thrown away. You can give it to the dog, but it will just get fat. Just throw it out, give the child smaller portions, they can always have seconds.
Men often wonder why their wives get fat after they have kids. Well this is one of the biggest contributors. Mom is usually the one to feed and clean up after they eat. One reason is, most mom’s hate to waste things, so naturally they eat that half of a parentingsandwich, or the rest of the child’s fruit or vegetables. Another reason is, seeing as though she is the one who most likely gave the portions to the child, she blames herself for the waste. To prevent it from being waste, she eats it. That crust you cut off the sandwich, don’t eat that either. At only 100 calories per day, it adds up to 36,500 extra calories per year.
Keep this in mind when you are about to put that cookie with one bite out of it in your mouth. If you didn’t want it in the first place, why would you have it after the fact?
