Watermark For Your Photos

Step By Step Instructions, How To Create A Watermark, To Protect Your Pictures You Post Online or Share with Others.

If you post any photos to social media, they are up for grabs to anyone who can see them. Do you want people to use your pics to scam people in some way or another? They will you know. They may even help fund terrorist activities. Please protect your pictures by placing a Watermark overlay over your photos before you post/share them. It’s quite easy and yes, it’s not as quick, but your being responsible and that alone is worth the extra steps you need.

I use a free online service called PIXLR. They have two versions. PIXLR EDITOR and PIXLR EXPRESS. No download needed, simple and easy to use and best off all Free, however I do recommend a donation at the very least if you use their site often. It’s well worth it.

Creating a Watermark for your photos

Step one;

watermark post photoCreating your simple Watermarks. You can get creative as you get familiar with the features they offer and even use images for your pics using PNG editing. I’m simply going to show you how to make a Watermark with writing, like the photo for this post.

First go to Pixlr Express, choose browse and then choose the photo that you wish to have a watermark on. Now choose Type and select a text format. You can change the font later. Choose your font next. Different fonts are different sizes and you may have to make unnecessary adjustments if you change it later. Next step is typing your text in the box that says “type your text here ..” As you type you will see it appear on your photo. If too big, adjust it with the dot on the right side of the text box and the middle of the bottom line of your text box on the image. If you want to slant it, use the dot in the middle of the top line of the text box.

Once you have your text written, choose a color and then choose how light you would like it to be. When everything is right where you want it to be, click apply. Once you have what you want on your photo your good to save. Keep in mind that the text you place on the photo will be in layers, so if you do not want something to cover up something else, you need to put it in a layer below what you want completely visible. In the upper left hand corner is your save button.

You can rename this new copy of your photo now, so it will not get mixed up with your original or mistakenly replace the original with your watermark pic. I like to cut quality to 50% myself, you may find you want to cut it down even further. When people zoom in on the pic it will become pixelated and those fine lines and wrinkles won’t be noticeable as much 🙂 Pictures that have a lower quality will also load faster.

This is the quick easy way to place a watermark on the photos you share. Do not allow others to use your photos without your permission. You do not know what they will use them for. Maybe creating face profiles, you just don’t know, so why take a chance? Be responsible, protect your property and help put an end to photo theft on the internet.

You can also create a template using Pixlr Editor, which will be another post another time. This will allow you to use one template to lay over your photos, so you do not have to take all these steps every time you want to place watermark texts on your pictures. You will be able to choose your photo, adjust it by adding an image (your watermark template), then size it to fit your picture, rename and save. You can make and add as many watermarks as you want.
